CNUData coverage, sample validation and methodology

Public previews come from trade records returned by CNUData's data-service interface. Source HS prefixes and market codes are checked before publication, duplicate samples are removed and buyer names are masked. These previews are not a market census; matching a source code is not a manual classification or company verification.

How a sample reaches a public page

Collection queries a specific HS chapter and import market. A batch is not published if a returned record lacks an HS code, has a different market code or does not match the requested prefix. Cached previews retain the code, market and validation version. Legacy previews missing this evidence stay hidden until a normal refresh replaces them. Masking and deduplication may reduce the displayed sample count.

Record dates, refresh dates and scope

A record date describes the trade record, not the webpage's publication date. Public previews refresh in rotating batches and may lag behind signed-in searches. Chapter totals cover only participating sampled markets, not the entire world. A query's record count is neither a count of unique buyers nor a deduplicated shipment total.

Coverage and error limits

The country directory lists selectable search markets; it does not promise complete names, values, contact details or all historical years in each market. Source codes, translations and units may contain errors. Cross-check the HS code against the original product description. Report suspected mismatches with the page URL, record date and product description so support can investigate.

What the evidence supports

Use public previews to check for relevant records and available fields before trying a full search. Do not extrapolate market share, national trade totals or credit ratings from a small preview. An absence of records does not establish that a company has no trade activity.

Common questions

Why might a market have no public samples?

It may await a refresh, have failed scope checks or have no records currently available for publication. This does not establish an absence of trade in that market.

Does passing validation prove a record is correct?

No. Automated validation checks that source fields match the requested scope. It does not replace verification of declarations, specifications or company identity.

Sources and further checks

Product workflows and sample rules are documented by CNUData. For HS definitions and heading scope, see the World Customs Organization and check the applicable destination tariff for formal classification. References do not identify it as a supplier of our records.
